Swim Bike Run Fun
Endurance Fun with Friends

Where Our Story Meets Yours

Camille Baptiste Founder, Race Director for Swim Bike Run Fun Club & Events

ABOUT US

How It Started...

Swim Bike Run Fun began out of the desire among friends to have more women – of all backgrounds – enjoy the sport of triathlon, cycling and endurance cardio events.

We wanted to create a platform for beginners and those looking to have a good time – while crushing their fitness goals.

Hi, my name is Camille Baptiste and I am the Chief Funlete Choreographer at SBR Fun. You may know me as Sporty Diva or FlossyGlossy in the endurance multisport community because I bring a party everywhere I go!

In 2011, I traded in my dancing shoes for a pair of New Balance runners. Since then, I’ve been in love with endurance cycling, triathlons, duathlons and really embracing the multisport lifestyle.

But, that’s not all you need to know…

I LEARNED TO SWIM & RIDE AT 37 YEARS OLD

Yes, you read that correctly.

I was introduced to triathlons in 2013 by a local Tri Club and participated in their annual Indoor Tri fundraiser event. I was up for the challenge so I said “HELL YES!”

But, I had NO idea how to swim. So, I registered for an Adult-Learn-To-Swim class and started working with a private swim coach. It was then that I learned to master the fine art of swimming or truth be told - it's akin to controlled drowning.

I set my goal to train like hell – and the rest is history!  Well… HERstory :)

Because after my first race – Champions Indoor Triathlon – I was HOOKED!

One major problem. Okay maybe two.

Indoor Triathlons were not held very frequently here in Central Texas. So, if I wanted to participate in an upcoming triathlon – I’d have to swim in a lake, cycle on an open road, and run on an outdoor course!

But… that meant I had to reveal my “other” secret…

I didn’t know how to ride a bike!

I was gifted a hybrid bike and with my husband as my coach – I quickly learned how to crush it on two wheels. Not without some badass ‘learning tattoos’ from my many crashes and falls.

Then, I feel in love with cycling and have been addicted ever since!

BECAME A UNICORN

Since 2013, I’ve raced and participated in over 95+ Swim Bike Run events across a number of race formats. Race results where I've enjoyed podium finishes, middle of the pack results and had some epic finishes bringing up the rear.

In my quest to #dopeicshit, I've completed nearly all forms of multisport events, including: Indoor Triathlons, Duathlons, Splash & Dashes, Aqua-bikes, Aquathons, Super Sprint Tri's, Sprints, Olympic, Relay Teams, and Intermediate Distance Triathlons... all the way up to Half-Ironman 70.3's.

As a Half-Ironman competitor, I began to travel for races and connect with more female triathletes from all over the world. But, the farther I ran, the more I noticed that my training circle became smaller and smaller – until I felt completely like the odd woman out.

Then an idea was born because...

The endurance community was small – TOO small – and not diverse at all!

I was tired of being the only Black curvy female with an accent… I had no one to party with at the finish lines... and I wondered WHY?

Why weren’t there more women like me in the endurance community participating in triathlons and long distance cycling events.

Women of all shades, races, sizes, heights, faiths & varying proclivities?

We could do it – I knew that for sure!

PUTTING BIG FUN IN
TRIATHLONS & CYCLING

One day while shooting the breeze with the ladies in my Tri Tribe we realized that women weren’t attracted to this sport because of what they thought it represented.

Most women perceived endurance cyclists & triathletes as needing to be fast or super fit or having lots of extra cash to buy expensive equipment.

In other words… long distance cycling events & triathlons were such a scary and intimidating word for many women.

Newbies were overwhelmed with where to start (or even if they wanted to) and experienced triathletes were getting burned out and injured from over-the-top training and racing long courses.

So, the answer to all of these problems?

Make Cycling & Triathlons fun again!

And create an environment where women of ALL shapes, sizes, races, religions, orientations, abilities – you name it – would feel welcomed!

We wanted to shift the focus from being Fast & Furious - to being Friendships & Fun.

WE ARE THE "A" TEAM

Our primary goal is to produce the safest, memorable themed triathlons, duathlons, aquathlons, aqua-bikes, cycling,  and fun running events using our 3x A Team Formula.

A - Accessible

A - Adaptive

A - All Inclusive

Our themed race courses and events are exhilarating, short, high-energy, close to home and won’t require months of training to enjoy.

Our dedicated team members are experienced triathletes, cyclists, and runners, professionals, small business owners, moms, retired military, multi-ethic and rep all the different body types who enjoy the multi-sport lifestyle. That’s why passion, flair, and enthusiasm go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

All of our Swim Bike Run Fun events are designed for women by women and are open to first-timers & beginners as well as experienced triathletes who need to reboot their tri joy.

As the Chief Funlete, it’s my aim to work with the SBR Fun team to have a Fit Party atmosphere at every event filled with good vibes, rockstar participants dressed in fancy spandex, sporting dope medal bling, dancing to music at the finish line with larger than life smiles to match our out-of-this-world potential :)

Don’t be a stranger! Come join us at our next event, clinic or training meetup — it’s a lifetime of memories and good clean fun every time.
